What is VPS?

There was a lot of buzz regarding the implementation of location-based AR in the existing positioning systems for the past couple of years. But, finally, Google has revealed its innovative technology called VPS (Visual Positioning System).

This is basically a refined and revamped version of Google Maps that use complex systems to improve navigation.

On May 8, 2018, Google I/O conference, Google revealed this system and some highlights to the audience.

So, the basic idea of this technology is to “combine the power of computer vision and camera to provide walking navigations to the users”.

It also utilizes cloud networks to show accurate information about the popular things around you.

Although the implementation of this technology is not easy work, Google is utilizing Artificial Intelligence to get everything done effectively.

Gathering data accurately and using it in the street views is tough. Although, there is still no official launch date of VPS as Google is still working on this technology with its utmost efforts.

How does VPS Technology work?

Utilizing the capabilities of the GPS, the VPS technology uses mobile cameras and augmented reality to show the crucial and accurate information to the users.

This sounds like a totally new system having fractions of existing AR applications.

VPS also uses information from Google’s databases to analyze the locations and show the locations and nearby places.

Google has also given a helping Digital Avtaar a Cartoon Fox, which will guide the user.

All these things work with excellent accuracy as per Google’s official documentation.

To use this feature in our smartphones, No other Mobile App is required to download, but it is necessary to activate this feature using the visual view option.

The surroundings start to display with an overlay of the existing Google Map.

The VPS is also supposed to show you the nearby locations by detecting them with the camera and Google’s ordinary location detection systems.

Once this technology is launched, it will become very much easier to detect our location with much preciseness.

Also, this technology will help the users to get various other features in which Google Lens is also going to be utilized. Google Lens is useful, where you want to get some information about anything by sharing the image of that thing with google through Google Lens.
